Music Workshops for Teachers

Working in Singapore with teachers from Malaysia

TEACHING FOUNDATION, KS1 AND KS2 MUSIC
Inset could take place after school or during holiday time. You might like to join up with other local schools so I can work with enough adults to effectively make up a small ‘class’. This means that the sessions are much more fun as you get to be the pupils and will absorb the concepts and skills so much more easily and quickly. Alternatively, you might like to call your local Music Services and ask them to contact me for a workshop for schools in the area.

The sessions are very hands on and quite energising! I don't make anyone do anything they don't want to do (!), but I DO make sure you have fun and learn lots and lots to take straight back to the classroom - and not just ideas in isolation but understanding of a whole scheme.

You should come away feeling confident and competent to teach effectively and to be able to successfully evaluate your work.

N.B. I am used to delivering these workshops to a mixture of trained and untrained musicians in such a way that everyone is stimulated!

 PICTURES POEMS & PERCUSSION
I incorporate these books in the workshops above. This is for teachers who've got shed loads of percussion instruments and not a clue what to do with them!

INTRODUCING CLASSICAL MUSIC THROUGH STORIES
I incorporate these books in the above workshops

KEYCLUB PIANO WORKSHOP

For piano teachers

This workshop takes between an hour and an hour and a half to suit your requirements.
I believe that every single half hour piano lesson we give must give the pupil enough of whatever it takes to get him/her through a whole week of wanting to practise! Sometimes we expect these kids to have the study skills of university students. Many piano teachers have little or no teacher training, and though their musical expertise will be beyond question, they may have less experience in the 'teaching skills' side of their work. In this workshop I focus on my philosophy that we teach 'first the child and second the subject'. As well as a broad overview of Keyclub you will have fun trying out some of the pre-piano activities.

Please
email me for further information on any of these workshops, including costs and availability.
